Book review

On the first Thursday of each month the Library runs its’ Book Explorers Book Club for our junior readers. Below is a review of Mao’s Last Dancer by Li Cunxin by one of them.

“I was inspired by this beautiful true story of Li Cunxin and his battle to be a dancer in his poverty stricken world.

From reading this story I feel that I have met him and empathise with him and his family’s troubles.

I was especially intrigued and saddened when Mao died, but later found out that Mao was a horrible communist man who killed hundreds of people.

Overall, I give it four and a half out of five.”
