Event: 'Oral History'

Oral History Morning
Oral History Morning
Date: Wednesday, November 18, 2009 At 10:00 AM

The final Oral History Morning for 2009 will feature the first ever digital recording played at these sessions. The interview to be presented is with Andrée (Andy) Hayward.

Andy Hayward’s father was one of the pioneers of the Chapman Valley having taken up 900 acres of virgin land at Dindaloa in 1912. Andy grew on the family farm and gained his education at one-teacher schools in Chapman Valley. After working on nearby farms Andy enlisted in the Royal Australian Navy and served out his six year contract. Many occupations followed including a spell as a whale chaser out of Carnarvon. After eight years as a share farmer Andy was the contractor for the Yuna Mail Run from 1965 to 1979. His last full time job was with the Geraldton Fisherman’s Co-Op.

This Oral History Morning will be held in the Geraldton-Greenough Regional Library on Wednesday the 18th of November at 10 am.

Morning Tea will be supplied courtesy of the Geraldton-Greenough Regional Library.
